Pit Bulls – Often referred to as a ‘bully breed’, but most pit bull owners get quite defensive when they hear those words because disposition of a dog has A LOT to do with both the environment in which they are raised and circumstance. There are plenty of perfectly sweet, loving pit bulls out there.
When it comes to bullying it works much the same way. There are reasons children bully which often have something to do with the environment in which they are being raised and circumstance, and preventing this behavior takes a different thought process. Have you ever considered a bully to be a victim? Most have not, but if you really think about the root cause of the behavior, they very much are victims.
This is the final week of bullying prevention month, and as we close out the month, it’s the lesson of compassion for others that we hope carries forward. When we can love ourselves for who we are and accept others for their own unique background, it becomes a little easier to demonstrate compassion for another and hopefully that leads to less bullying in our world. It’s the reason for the #ADifferentLittleDoggy story.
